German Donation Monitor: More is being donated!
Increasingly precise market research methods enable organizations to get to know the donations market and thus the behavior of their target groups better and better. Jan Borcherding, Head of Bonsai Public, has been in charge of conducting the German Donation Monitor for many years. He highlights current developments in the magazine FUNDStücke of the German Fundraising Association.
Proportion of donors has currently increased
In November 2022, Bonsai surveyed 5,095 people between the ages of 16 and 70 about their donation behavior over the past twelve months. The extrapolated total amount donated in this period was around 6.5 billion euros. Just over half of those surveyed said they donate. Another 4.5 percent pay contributions that are tax-deductible. This is significantly more than in previous years, when the proportion of donors was around 40 percent rather than over 50 percent.
In the FUNDStücke magazine, on the one hand, the most important results of the German Donation Monitor are shown and the methodological innovations are explained. On the other hand, Jan Borcherding explains the reasons for the current developments in the donation market: from the growth in digital donations to the impact of disasters and crises on the willingness to donate.
