German Donation Monitor - more than half of German citizens make donations
53.3 percent of people in Germany donate despite war, crises and inflation. This is just one of the findings of the recently published German Donation Monitor, which is published annually by the German Fundraising Association (DFRV) and collected by Bonsai Research. With deeper questions even small and smallest donations as well as so far not considered donations are uncovered.
For Larissa Probst, executive director of DFRV, the findings are an important indication of the importance of fundraising and solidarity movements like #GivingTuesday. "Civil society needs strong, transparent fundraising to motivate people to donate and get involved again and again or for the first time. This is the only way civil society can develop its full potential through a sustainable and independent financial base," Probst said.
"Just under a quarter of the population has not donated so far, but can imagine doing so again in principle or for the first time in the future," says Jan Borcherding, Head of Bonsai Public, who is responsible for the study.
The German Donation Monitor is a representative online survey of Internet users between the ages of 16 and 70 in Germany. For the current study, 5,059 people between the ages of 16 and 70 were surveyed.
