More sustainable consumption through fruit from the EU

The EU-funded initiatives "GET A FRUIT," "GREEN LIFE" andREFRESH YOUR LIFE bring consumers closer to healthy products from the EU. B2B events are just as much a part of the information and communication concept as the presentation in stationary retail. Bonsai Sales & Food Service supports the EU-sponsored initiatives through test listings in retail and promotions.

22.02.2023. To better position fruit from Europe as more sustainable than imports from Asia or South America is the aim of the three campaigns GET A FRUIT, REFRESH YOUR LIFE and GREEN LIFE, which are supported by the European Union. Depending on the season, different types of fruit and vegetables are promoted in stores. For the past two years, the three initiatives have been supported in their promotions by Bonsai Sales & Food Service.

European fruit for trade and gastronomy

"Raising consumer awareness of high-quality cultivated products from Europe is important," says Stefan Feldmeier, member of the management board of Bonsai Research: "Retailers and the food service industry are the door openers for this." As part of the Fruit Logistica 2023 trade fair, an exclusive tasting of European fruit and vegetables was therefore held for trade visitors. Attendees from the on-trade, importers and distributors had the opportunity at Fruit Logistica to taste delicious recipes with high-quality, fresh fruit from Europe - served by well-known chefs. The fruits and vegetables, freshly picked in European gardens, score points for exceptional taste, outstanding quality - and are also the better choice for healthy nutrition from a sustainability perspective than products from Asia, Africa or South America.

"Within the framework of the three EU initiatives, we support the marketing of different types of fruit and vegetables in Germany, depending on the season," says Stefan Feldmeier: "We bring the products to EDEKA and REWE stores, for example: On the one hand, this convinces consumers of fruit and vegetables from the EU as a sustainable and tasty alternative to other imports. On the other hand, we can use the results of the test listings to convince other retailers to include the products in their assortments."
