Insights for retailers: GLORY PAYMENT REPORT 2023
The new GLORY PAYMENT REPORT shows that consumers have become much more open to new (self-service) technologies. Many expect them, as the report's new Bonsai study shows. The barriers to self-service have never been so low. The principle of self-service is now accepted, and the technology has arrived. The use of AI has also long since ceased to be a taboo subject for the vast majority.
Being able to decide for themselves how to pay for their purchases is a key factor for more and more consumers. This is one of the findings of a representative study on shopping and payment behavior in the DACH region conducted by Bonsai Research on behalf of payment expert GLORY in June 2023. In the survey, 47 percent of Germans said that freedom of choice when paying was very important to them. In Switzerland, the figure was 51 percent, and in Austria it was as high as 57 percent.

On behalf of GLORY, the market research institute Bonsai Research surveyed over 2,000 people from Germany, Austria and Switzerland about their payment and shopping behavior.
The representative study also shows which preferences customers have in the store and for the checkout, which self-service services and technologies they would like to see, and which criteria they currently use to choose their shopping location.
