German Donation Monitor 2024: More is being donated
To mark today's Giving Tuesday, the international day of giving, the German Fundraising Association (DFRV) and the German Central Institute for Social Issues (DZI) are publishing the results of the German Donation Monitor 2024. Two pieces of good news from the study, for which Bonsai Research surveyed 6,039 people in Germany online this year:
Private donations rise to around six billion euros (excluding large donations over 1,500 euros)
Donor rate increases by 1.6 percentage points year-on-year to 50.2 percent
In the so-called Gen Y (born between 1980 and 1995), the proportion of donors increases from 46 to 52 percent.
Would you and your organization like to know how the donation market in Germany is developing and also what image and awareness your organization has among the German population? The German Donation Monitor provides reliable and comparable information about the donation market (donation rate, donation amount, donation purpose, attitude towards donations) and about the awareness and image of participating organizations.
Jan Borcherding, Head of Public at Bonsai Research, can provide information on the methodology of the study and in-depth research into the figures. He has been in charge of the German Donations Monitor for over 20 years and is co-head of the DFRV's Research and Civil Society Data department.
