Enjoy, it's from Europe

With the two campaigns, the European Union supports "Get a Fruit and "Refresh Your Life" the enjoyment of European fruit. Under the motto "Enjoy, it's from Europe", the aim is to bring about a return to local European fruit. This is taking place within the larger framework of the European Green Deal, which envisages Europe becoming the first climate-neutral continent by 2050. To mark the occasion, a culinary voyage of discovery with chef and TV chef Roberto Enßlen took place at the leading Fruit Logistica trade fair in Berlin, which was all about European fruit.

On two evenings, Roberto Enßlen created creative menus based on original recipes from Greece, Romania, Bulgaria and Cyprus, including fruits from the countries mentioned. Greek quality products such as Cretan extra virgin olive oil, feta and yoghurt from Epiros and ouzo from Thrace as well as Cypriot halloumi were also used.

Roberto Enßlen also created exciting smoothies with the fruits. The focus of both the dishes and the drinks was on mandoras (a cross between oranges and mandarins), peaches, nectarines, apricots, plums, cherries and apples. After the greeting by the Office of Economic and Commercial Affairs of the Embassy of Greece in Berlin, nutritionist Tomma Günther rounded off the event on the second evening with a lecture on the latest scientific findings on fruit nutrition. The organiser of the entire event was Alexandros Kiriakidis from Bonsai.

The project "Get a fruit" is an information project in Germany, Poland, the Czech Republic and Croatia to promote fresh fruit as part of a healthy diet. The following organisations participate in the programme: Association of Imathia's Agricultural Cooperatives - producer organisation (ASIAC), coordinator from Greece and Asociatia Producatorilor de fructe din sud Fructprod (FRUCTPROD) - project partner from Romania.

The project "Refresh your life" involves the implementation of information and promotion measures to promote fresh fruit and vegetables in the internal market of Germany, Poland and the Czech Republic. The Bulgarian National Horticultural Union (BNHU), PRODCOM Romania, the Union of Greek Chambers (UHCC) with a total of 59 chambers and Panagrotikos Cyprus are participating in this programme.
